It's Time To Close Our Doors...

After 13 years in business, 6 of which have been under my ownership, Bassinets & Blueberries will be branching off in a new direction. Sadly, we will be closing our 17th St. retail location. Happily, we will be available for nursery design appointments for custom bedding, furniture, art, lighting, flooring, window treatments and accessories.

For those of you who don’t know me well, I am looking forward to getting back to concentrating on my aesthetic roots. Trained as an art historian and with substantive experience with set decorating—both motion picture and television: retail interior design—stores here in Southern California and New York City, as well as, theme park design and purchasing for Disney—projects here in Orange County and Japan, I love to marry my interests in babies and children with my background to fulfill customers’ dreams of fantasy nurseries.

Several members of our current staff will join me in this new endeavor. We will also launch a new website featuring Bassinets & Blueberries favorites. We will offer local delivery to showers and homes by hand with our signature wrap and gift basket options available. We may be a bit old fashioned, but we want to serve our customers with personal attention and unique merchandise. In this new retail world, we think that a website and design appointment combination will best serve our customers at the most effective prices.

We urge all of you who like to shop in a boutique environment to go out this summer and buy from your favorite boutiques. We cannot emphasize how vital it is for you to commit your dollars along with your praise to those shopkeepers willing to pay rent and stock inventory to provide you a retail experience that is both pleasurable and immediately available for purchase. Shopping locally not only provides you with the pleasure of shopping, it keeps tax dollars and charity donations circulating in your neighborhoods.

It’s been such a pleasure getting to know successive years of new Bassinets & Blueberries babies, mother, fathers and their families. We would love updates and are only a phone call or Facebook question away. Southern California is a special place, we need to continue to create unique environments in which our children will flourish and enjoy a promising future.

iCandy from the UK

Bassinets and Blueberries is so excited to announce the arrival of a new stroller line to the store. iCandy is a line from the UK that is starting to launch in the US. We are one of the very few stores in the US to have it and for that we are super excited. Below is the 'Pear' stroller. It can fit a toddler and infant (as shown) or two toddlers, or two infants, a bassinet and toddler etc. The possibilities are endless. We have a 'Pear' on the floor so come in and we can show you how easy it is to maneuver. How light the chassis is and how simple it is to take apart and fold down. The footprint of this stroller is smaller then any tandem stroller out there. It uses the chassis of a single stroller, which means after you don't need it as a double stroller, it can become a single!!! Its unheard of....

Another model that we have sampled in the store is the 'Apple.' It is a single stroller that then can become the 'Pear' with the purchase of a few extra accessories. This stroller can hold an infant seat, a bassinet and then the toddler seat. The line also offers what they call 'Flavour Packs,' and this allows you to customize the stroller to your personality.

It's baby season!!!!

We have officially started baby season... many moms are due in the next coming months: March, April, May and June... It's time to come shopping and find them the cutest gifts around. We are receiving new shipments daily from companys like Baby Nay, Petit Bateau, Kicky Pants, Sarah Louise, Mish Baby... and many more to arrive soon. Come in now to get your first pick of sizes because we only take on so many of each size.

The new Kicky Pants is our newest arrival and has the softest fabric ever. It's 95% bamboo and 5% lycra. You can't beat it. The line has gowns, rompers and two-piece outfits.

Baby Nay introduced such a fun, sweet pattern in this collection. Great for Spring and really cute for an Easter dress... come in now for available sizes.

It's raining, it's pouring

It's raining cats and dogs... or ladybugs, frogs and firemen!!! The weather has rain in the forecast for the next week or so, be sure to come and grab your little one a raincoat and umbrella. Nothing is cuter then a toddler playing in the rain, but for mommy's sake, it's more fun if that toddler isn't soaking wet. That's where Kidorable comes in... they make your little one look adorable while you are keeping them dry.

Our new shipment of Under the Nile has just arrived. All organic items for baby. Anything from their super cozy bunting bags (gowns) to their blankie buddies... it's all so cute and all organic. We, at Bassinets and Blueberries, have been interested in organic for a while now, but have seen so many of our favorite companies start to provide products in this category (i.e. Kissy Kissy, Coccoli, Toni Tierney and more). We have an entire rack dedicated to organic clothing, accessories and toys. Venture into the store soon to get first pick of some of the adorable products.

Introducing the Bassinets and Blueberries Blog

We want to say hello to all of you who have decided to take a look at our blog. We thought this would be a fun way to feature what is new and exciting in the world of Bassinets and Blueberries. We have all become aware of how the Internet has provided convenience to our lives, but planning a day to go out and shop at local boutiques is part of the advantage we have to where we live. Yes, it is necessary to shop at Target and Babies R Us, we all do, but it is so special to arrive to a baby shower or a sip-and-see with a super special gift that you found from your favorite baby store. Introducing the "mom-to-be" to the uniqueness and quality that you so love yourself.

That is where we come in... our store is full of speciality items... fine-quality clothes, personalized gifts, hand-made lovies, custom-made breastfeeding pillows, unique toys, all the special items that "mom" may not buy herself, but dreams of getting. While our new website is in the works we didn't want to delay any longer with getting on the web, so this is our way to feature what has recently arrived at Bassinets and Blueberries, or just a way to introduce you to some of our favorite "staples."

Along with the fun of getting out in the area and physically shopping, comes the pleasure of receiving great customer service. We strive to provide this to all of our customers, many of who we over the years can now call friends.
